Personal Injury Attorney

By Attorney Thomas McLaughlin

Heard any good lawyer jokes lately?  As a lawyer myself, I have heard quite a few. Although I do not love that my profession is frequently a punch line, I understand it. One reason (among many) for the negative sentiment surrounding lawyers, stems from the common complaint that society has become too litigious.  Lawyers, being the face of litigation, naturally bear the blame.  This is especially true of personal injury attorneys.  Personal injury, or PI attorneys, represent people who have been injured in automobile accidents, slip and falls, dog bite incidents, medical malpractice, etc. When you hear the words personal injury attorney, what things come to mind?  Ambulance chasers?  Legal ads on bus-stop benches?  Upon hearing these words, one is more likely to picture a "My Cousin Vinny" type attorney than an “Atticus Finch.”

That being said, circumstances often change perception.  If one is hit by a drunk driver and facing a lifetime of medical bills and impairment, they may end up with a very different opinion of lawyers than they had prior to the collision.

If you suffer or have suffered an injury in an accident caused by another, do not let any aversion you may have toward the legal profession keep you from getting help.  The time after an injury-causing event is highly stressful.  The pain and anxiety of injury are amplified by having to navigate an unfamiliar system (determine insurance coverage, figure out payment for medical bills and lost wages, resolve property damage, monitor deadlines, coordinate treatment, collect records, etc.) all while dealing with physical limitation.  This is further complicated by the adversarial nature of said system where, as you seek justice, more likely than not, there is an opposing party or insurance carrier seeking to minimize the severity of your injuries or the extent of your damages.

Therefore, if you have suffered a loss, you should not hesitate to contact Cloutier & Cassella, LLC.  In addition to getting the help you need; you may very well find that not all lawyers are bad and most care deeply about justice.  Who knows...you may even have to replace your old lawyer jokes with dentist jokes?
